Such a gap

well, I can't believe it's nearly 2 months since I last posted. OK for some of that time we had no internet as the cable was damaged, we have now changed to Virgin Media, but lost our phone line because their cable was damaged too.

Last month my friend got married at St David' Hotel in Cardiff, wow was the food good.

I have also been trying out Max Factor's ageless elixir, a foundation that also includes serum so it's supposed to make you look youngr if it's used every day. Funny thing is though out of everyone I've spoken to only one person uses foundation every day.

wins

Have not bloggede foa few weeks and in that time I have received some wins

nails inc nail varnish in monmouth street - a gorgeous pink verging on red, it will look fantastic with my black dress at my friends hen night next weekend.

models own cheek & lip tint - very similar to Benefit

blistex - raspberry lemonade lip balm - I'm a great fan of blistex, this is very sweet & lemony and really moisturises the lips

orange rice krispie squares - usually too sweet but the orange takes the edge off

no company has provided the product to be reviewed

In some ways my daughter has not had a good week - she and her partner were in their room when someone broke in, nothing was taken and no-one was hurt. However she is now too scared to be alone there so has moved in with her grand-parents until they can find another flat.

What a week

Cannot believe the sights that have been on TV this week. Why do people behave this way? I think it comes down to discipline, both from other sources and self discipline. Everyone always seem to be looking for someone else to blame.

When you watch programmes such as Supernanny you see parents not wanting to discipline their children in case they upset them,. It's a parents job to ensure their children become a functioning member of society  & not to be their friend. I am also a great believer in children having a male role model, not necessarily a father but someone who can encourage them to become a rounded person & to back the mother up if necessary.

Anyway on a brighter note it is my wedding anniversary today and we're having a meal in - not because of the recession but because we may be out tomorrow - still haven't seen Harry Potter so may go into Bristol to see that & have a meal - leaving before it gets too late (just in case)

competitons

In  my spare time I am what is known as "a comper" that is I enter competitions, not occasionally but daily and then could be hundreds in one day.

Do I ever win? yes. Do I win often? no. Have I won the big one yet? also no.

There is a reason for the last, most competitions have smaller prizes like this one http://www.lifeinabreakdown.com/2011/07/body-bling-review-and-giveaway.html
not to say they're not good prizes (although some are awful) but they do not have the budget that the companies offfering the big prizes do. Often they are given prizes by PR companies in return for reviews. The larger companies often advertise their competitions widely so get thousands of entries whilst smaller ones rely on word of mouth & may only get 10s or 100s of entries so your chances  of winning are better.

Anyway lets hope the big  win is out there for all of us .

Family traditions

There are some traditions you can control, which means if  she is a girl her middle name will be Loiuse. Others which you cant,in my family's case it is bunches of birthdays.

I was born 2 days after my grandfather's bithday, my sister 8 days before my gran's. Of my children the eldest was born 4 days before my mum's birthday, my middle one a day after mymother -in -laws and stretchingthe anology slightly my daughter was born 5 days after my wedding anniversay. All I can say to that is weird eh!!

Only 28 weeks to go

I've known for a few weeks now that I'm about to be a grandmother. I found so many mummy bloggers out there but nothing for Grans - are we too old?

My darling daughter is only 18 but you would have thought she had won the lottery when she told us. Reactions have varied from pleased to disgusted, the worst being my father, who you would have thought would have been most supportive as he and mum were 18 when they had me , perhaps it's the though of being a great grandad in his 60s.

At the moment we think we have a mid-january baby due but dating scan isn't until next wednesday. I can't believe how things have changed  since I had her, it seems a lot less formal now, no confirmation pregnancy test , check with midwives at doctors rather than at the hospital ....

Mind you we were allowed to eat things that are now not recommended, in fact liver was suggested and we could drink alcohol in moderation.
